Oh my gosh. What's the deal with expensive towels snagging? I need to find NON SNAGGING bath towels. Advice please! (colors, texture)

This seems like a more recent problem - it seems like I never had to deal with towels that snagged till about ten years ago and now it doesn't seem to matter WHAT I spend or where I buy them - towels seem to just snag and pull.
Has anyone found any good, plush bathroom towels that don't snag and pull?
I think the reason I originally joined CD was to rant about towels. My old ones from about 1999 were finally wearing thin and I needed to replace them. But the brands I liked aren't made anymore and they're all made in other countries and are of lower quality.
Someone replied that it's because the companies went out of business. Martex was the brand I liked, also Stevens and a few others that I can't remember. And I do not want bath sheets! So now I look for normal sized sheets in good brands in the thrift stores. Last year I found a few normal sized towels in England but the quality isn't that good.
I think you may still be able to find good quality but you have to look hard. My old ones were, I think, combed cotton and I don't remember what else about them but they were great. I think they were Egyptian cotton too but I've read that they can now call it Egyptian cotton but it isn't the same. One area that I want great quality is sheets and towels.
Will out dry a "bath sheet" any day! And it doesn't snag either! I use them on the boat exclusively; less bulk, quick drying, and can also be used for drying other things that you don't want waterspots on.

I need bath towels! Not towels for the car or house. But thanks.
Ok, I must be using bath towels ALL WRONG! I mean, nearly 5 decades on this planet and I'm not sure I've ever had one 'snag'? Cheap ones, thin ones, hand-me-downs, bought from garage sales 4 for a buck, from Walmart, Target, and we splurged one for some from Penneys. Some did little more than push the water around my skin, but not a single one of them "snagged".
What am I doing Wrong? My wife is in the same boat as me (at least for the nearly 2 decades we've been together), though she may have been doing it right to get snags before that....
I think it is the way the toweling is made. If there are loops in the nap on one side of the towel, it will snag. If both sides of the towel have regular texture, it should not be as prone to snagging. But my observation is based on old evidence. I recently bought Wamsutta micro cotton towels for my guest bath, and I am now using them myself while the master bath is being renovated. The Wamsutta towels are not snagging and they are thick. I will say they are disappointingly small, and if I buy these as new towels for our new bath I'll be sure to buy bath sheets.
I bought the Wamsutta at Bed Bath and Beyond. There are lots of colors to choose from.
I am sure the LE towels are nice though.
