Furniture that is. Curious about everyone’s thoughts on having a skirt vs legs on upholstered pieces. I like both and feel that each has its place. I know that some people are very opposed to skirted pieces. They think they look like “old people” furniture. I disagree with that sentiment. I think that they are definitely more of a traditional look but i also think you can keep them very fresh looking by banding them at the bottom in a fabric for example. No skirting the question LOL!
well, I'm an old people and I prefer no skirts. easier to clean and I just like the simpler look.
This is why I don't like skirts, also. Those annoying dust bunnies seem to find their way everywhere even with frequent vacuuming. I've had both skirts and legs and will now always go skirtless.
Not a fan of skirted furniture. I do think it looks very old fashioned. Whether that means "old people" like it is a different question but I personally like a cleaner look.
I have both and I don't have a particular preference, other than aesthetics, and I don't find one easier to clean under than the other. I have this same skirted sofa in a different fabric and a matching chair in my cozy hearth room off of the kitchen, and I love it. https://www.smithe.com/harden-furnit...formation.aspx . It's very traditional and a welcome respite from the more wide open parts of the house where I have several less traditional unskirted leather sofas and chairs. Depends on what you're looking for. I'm lucky enough to have enough space to have different looks. If I only had one living area, my choices might be different.
Personally I do not like skirts. There are no skirts on any of the furniture in my house. I truly believe skirts were invented only to hide cheep legs. I would much rather see a nicely crafted and detailed leg made by a fine woodworker.
However, lately I often see simple round screw on legs in plastic or cheap Asian supplied wood. That should be covered. Furniture with such cheap legs don't come with a nice skirt with stiffner and cording around the perimeter plus corner tabs, though. What I see are skirts installed with a staple gun
The only skirts I like, are the expensive type that have nice materials, crafted very professionally, in a word - look the same as expensive upholstery.
