I am a divorced bachelor considering kitchen appliances that I should have for my 3br home.
Because of some flooding, I am planned to replace all my kitchen appliances with stainless steel but realize I never cook on the stove or use the oven. In fact, the past year, I've been using my countertop microwave and an airfryer I bought so don't miss the stove.
I just bought a new SS dishwasher but it being just me, I grew up doing dishes by hand so never really even use that.
Is it odd for a home to have void space between kitchen cabinets where the oven once sat?
Should I buy an oven because I might considering downsizing to a townhouse someday?
Thanks for your thoughts.

Oh my gosh, yes, of course you should buy an oven for resale value if nothing else, and yes, a void space where an oven used to be would be uber weird.

I know some states have customs where appliances are separate from the home at the time of sale, if this is your state then don't worry. These are Minority states though, most people buying will expect a range (or a price more than double off what a range costs). Since you don't use it, just bide your time and look for a nice, cheap, scratch and dent unit.

Yes. No one said you had to use it but houses have ovens.

You can use it as a large breadbox.
Or store shoes in it like Carrie Bradshaw.

I am just in the mood this morning to LOVE that question! Yes, think outside the box!

But, as I am by nature a killjoy and downer debby, if you plan on selling, I guess you have to waddle over in your heavy overgrowth of wool and follow the sheep in keeping a standard kitchen. On the plus side, ovens and dishwashers can be used for storage space.

Are you planning on dating? Would you be bringing women to your house? A kitchen without basic appliances won’t make a good impression.

You can buy one of the cheaper models. And don't store anything flammable inside. A visitor just might turn it on one day.

I am single for many many years. I use my dishwasher... runs once or twice a week. As to the oven, don't you sometimes make a frozen pizza? Or scramble an egg on the cooktop? There are many things you can learn to cook for yourself that are easy and quick.

I'm going to go against the grain on this one. If you don't use one now, don't get one. Use the space for a storage cart with a work surface. https://www.houzz.com/product/880616...-kitchen-carts
Buy an oven when you get ready to sell so you can get the latest style.
