I have a couple rooms that need to be painted, and I am potentially going to be selling the house in the near future.

What colors inside are good for selling a house?

Your best bet would be to talk to a successful realtor about this.

White might not be a bad option, but you should choose an ivory or cream white, not a stark, bright white.

A friend sold recently and her realtor told her to paint the rooms Accessible Beige by Sherwin Williams.

When we sold 2 years ago, our realtor suggested Mega Greige by Sherwin Williams...it has the unique ability to look either grayish, bluish or beige under different lights and against different colors. It looked very nice and neutral

Great advice being shared here. Definitely talk to the realtor to see what is preferred in your area.
Lighter is a good starting point. When we sold, the realtor had a few standard colors and I had used Accessible Beige and Modern Gray ( from Sherwin Williams) already in some rooms and they were great.
You want warmth and light but nothing obtrusive.

Conventional wisdom is to paint. I will offer my experience from my former LI realtor. I sold in 2013. My kitchen was Tangerine and I told her I was going to paint the kitchen before we actually went on the market. She told me not to because it "worked". Obviously I thought so, because to this day I still love the color. My house was on the market on Nov 6th and we had second visits from two couples within the 1st week. We were in contract by the end of the year. My experience may not be typical so the best advice is to discuss it with your realtor.

Paint it light, whites, beige, the rooms will look bigger and more open. I have walked out of houses that had dark walls..I just don’t want to have to repaint immediately .

Yep. I just read something that said that yellow houses and red kitchens sell for less. I put in a full price offer on a yellow cottage-style house with a kitchen with a red sink and red accents. It had a lot of interest. I LOVE the red sink and the yellow paint with green roof. Some of the inside colors are interesting as well, but they work ok with the house. I changed one wall and repainted some trim, but have left the others for now.
