Thanks! Also, I do plan on putting hardwood on the floors in the future so not too concerned if the wall color clashes with the beige carpet. The couch in the foreground of the pic is the same color (dark chocolate) as the one to the left-the flash from the camera makes it appear lighter FYI.
Neutral be damned! I'd choose some wild, eccentric, obscenely bright colors because dull, boring, washed out, neutral colors just look like everything is DEAD.

I'd go with teal, I think. maybe with some mint green accents thrown in for the heck of it and a spash of red here and there! Maybe even some red and fuscia and bright blue! Make it a riot of color man! Life - joy - happiness. You'll never find that with neutral.

Gray? no way, dying flesh is gray. You room would look terribly gloomy.
woot! Rock on asitshouldbe! Color = life. Deep yellow is a nice sunset (or sunrise) type color! Good suggestion.

the good news is that almost everything goes with brown. and with those high ceilings, you definitely need some warmth so I wouldn't go too light.

you can do a gray with a blue, purple or green tint. platiumn gray, flora, urban nature, silver fox are all wonderful Benjamin Moore grays with color. They would look nice with your brown couches and are still in the "neutral" category especially in an empty room. You could also paint the trim around the fireplace a darker or complimentary color to accent.
get the restoration hardware throw pillows in spruce for the brown couches.

Default Painting to match chocolate brown

Why not do one wall with a bold accent? Maybe a red on the fireplace wall, or a burnt orange-that way it will enhance the neutral color you choose for the rest of the wall, and go great with the chocolate brown color. If you have a swatch of the material from the coauch, take it with you into a paint store and try putting it next different color cards and see what your natural emotional response is.

Best,

-Jay

I was thinking similar to Activeartist

Paint the Fireplace wall with a darker accent color. It will make the fireplace pop and bring a focal point to your room.

Color is more of a personal preference - I think a med to dark brown would be nice - or a dark/deep red - like brick red. It would give you a nice accent color you could use for other items in the room.
