Do u have any experience in building &/ or living in a house constructed from Integrated Concrete Blocks ( ICB) ..?

Cement panels,interconnected...also known as ICF ( Forms) ...

U may share it with us...

Wooden houses are so low quality & vulnerable to...anything...

I built my home in 1990 of reinforced concrete in Key Largo, and it has given me on trouble since then. Last year I built my new home the same way, including concrete blocks inside too. Not one piece of wood was used in this mid-century style home. I built my lab out of steel, but have tilted up wall panels and jalousie windows (50's style) and both buildings are finished with granite and coral rocks so there will be no painting. I have always hated wood frame homes and refuse to punish myself by putting a wood roof on anything. In both homes I have enjoyed an insect and rodent free home. In addition I never used drywall, in my 1990 home I used plaster lath and in this one stucco over blocks and expanded metal lath.

Moving this so you can get more replies.

So everyone knows this was posted in the Miami forum, which has one of the strictest building codes int he country. CBS (concrete Block Stone) is the normal building code in MIami. I am not familiar with the term Integrated Concrete Block how is this different than regular CBS construction?

Yeah... they are being done more and more
and as described above most owners seem to like them just fine.
---

Aside from the "technology" aspects of what is involved... the more important aspect to be concerned about (in my view) is the quality and experience of the contractor doing it.

If inclined to go this route I'd start with finding locally owned contractors with their own crews who do these regularly and interview THEM. Then based on which came out best from that begin to explore the which approach they prefer to do and why and relative costs etc.

ICF,ICB,CBS,all methods which use cement panels are pretty much the same.
The giant leap is from wood to concrete...
However,there ios an issue.
The molds ,from some plastic material, are vulnerable to termites....
