Hi there, what should of been a really easy job has turned out a little bit wrong. My sister wanted her light changing in the bathroom so took the old one off easy done, all going good so far, come to put the new light back in, joined all the 4 live wires together in a connector block with one wire coming out to the light fitting and the same with the neutral wires, thought hey jobs a good un turned the electric back on, light came on but would it turn off, errmm no
Took it apart and tested what wires were live and only one of the 4 live wires were constantly live the rest were just dead no matter what the switch position was

Any guys got any idea what ive done wrong?

Thanks for any help

I think I know what the problem is.

Don't drink a 12 pack of beer just before you perform electrical work and don't drink another 12 pack of beer just before you post on City data to describe the problems you had performing electrical work.

You put the wires back in the wrong order and bypassed the switch. I am surprised the breaker did not trip because of a likely direct fault current on the switch. Most likely scenario. Having only 1 wire live of a set is normal when wires are apart.

Sounds like you have 1 live feed in, 2 feeds out and a switch leg. PM me for further info.

Believe me, I've seen lots of husbands, sons, brothers in law, etc. mess up a lot of wiring. I've seen people energize the kitchen sink.
