I have a maching machine with maximum speed of 1400 rpm.
But I am afraid that sometimes the speed is automatically reduced to lower limit. I don´t like this, I want the my washing machine always reaches the maximum speed because I spent a lot of money for it.
is there a simple way to measure the speed of the drum? stroboscope light can be a way? or other ways?
Seems like a few people have been wondering about this. Interesting article, which includes an un-scientific test.
From the article:

...as a faster spins mean more noise, more vibration, more wear and tear, and more money to buy in the first place, the question is at what speed do the benefits start to get outweighed by the long term disadvantages?
Allow me to rant. One of my children's friends is living in our home temporarily. Every time she does laundry, she puts the speed on fast/fast. WHY? It drives me insane. I've forgotten to change the speed back to slow/fast, and many of our clothes were torn up. Now that I've read in the above post that faster speed is more wear and tear on the machine, I'm going to have a talk with her about her strange laundry habit. I already had to talk to her about washing everything hot/warm. Why waste money with a warm rinse. Sweet girl but she's driving me insane with the way she does laundry.
I almost always use my washer in fast/fast mode. I believe that it agitates the fabrics more and gets them cleaner. Just soaking the clothes in soapy water isn't enough.
If I was washing my nice dress shirts I would use the slow mode, or just wash them by hand. For socks or towels or sheets I want them to get cleaned even if the energy cost is higher for the additional motion of the machine.
As for RPM's, this is the spin feature that dries your clothes at the end of the cycle. You can always do another spin cycle if you feel that your clothes are not dry enough, or hang them outside to dry for free.
