If you could decorate your home in any style what would you choose?
If I had a house,i would decorate it 80s style (or maybe earlier) -- I dont like the garbage in the world now,i would try to get some good Aluminum siding,I would get stuff that was NO NEWER THAN 1989 as I think by the year 2000 the world had gone to complete crap and it makes me sad!!!!!!!
I am very thankful TO NOT HAVE A COMPROMISED MIND.... I still have the same values I had in the 80s and earlier AND I AM VERY HAPPY ABOUT IT
If money wasnt an issue, Id get my 1920s house back to the 20s as much as i could. Maybe not so much furniture but if i found functional pieces I would.

I'd go with high quality traditional with midcentury modern accents. I'm not a fan of ornate, shabby or heavy looking pieces. I'd DEFINITELY want newer windows and roofing options, energy efficiency is nothing to sneeze at. I like wood blinds and shutters instead of drapery and would really look at ways to hide all the cords of modern living while still having access to all the electronics I needed. One nod to the past would be a pair of brass lamps. I just broke down and bought a pair of refurbished ones from my living room and they make me feel grounded, unlike the cheaply made and butt ugly lamps I've bought in the past. I don't know why that's a thing for me, but it is.
I think I could get everything new, even if I had to pay someone to make it.
80's? I had seafoam green and mauve and blue in one room, gold and brown plaids in another, and shag carpet. Not something I'm anxious to see again.
I'm not aware of windows specifically from the 1980s. Or curtains.
I can go to the store and buy furniture and curtains identical to what I could have bought in the 1980s.
When I do a google image search for 1980s interior style, it's all over the place from Waspy to contemporary.
By the way, people in the 1980s were already complaining about deteriorating construction quality. Houses that were built in the late 1990s to present seem preferable to the houses of the 1980s. Larger with higher ceilings, and much more energy efficient.
An eclectic mixture of art deco and Mexican colonial would suit me.
