Need you advise. This is a construction related question so it needs to be moved to some other thread, please let me know.
Building our first house in Houston. They have installed AC vent in the ceiling right in the middle of niche, where we were planning to install wood. It is going to look absolutely ugly with a vent peeking through the middle of the wood. When I took this with builder, they are saying that vents are never called on a blue print. It is to the discretion of builder where they install it. Therefore, they are not ready to budge and won't do it. I had 2 questions :
- Is this true that builder doesn't have any standards as to what the locations of vent should be?
- Do builders actually have no drawings for vent locations?
- More importantly, in all other houses of the same model vent is there in the main wall(which is what we want) and not in the middle of niche. Is this a justified reason to take this argument further?
Please advise and recommend on the questions above and what are my options here.
I don't know about blueprints, but I do know that you're the one paying the builder to build YOUR home to YOUR liking and if he can't give you a good practical reason for why he put that vent there and can't move it, then he needs to move it. His discretion is why he can't move it? NO BUENO.
He works for you. He needs to be reminded of that.
