This it the light fixture in our very small laundry room. We are looking into installing cabinets and the height of cabinets will be dependent on this light. This current light supplies enough light to the room(room has no windows) to light it up and make it feel bright.
If we put in a canned light instead, we could get taller cabinets (the current light is 5.5" in depth, so that takes away from cabinet height), but I worry that a canned light would not be able to brighten the room the same way.
My canned lighting is very bright. Just install two LED cans and you should be good to go. Alternatively, just relocate the present fixture so it doesn't interfere with your new cabinets.
Can lights bring a certain aesthetic to a room- non-obtrusive.
It's a laundry room!!! Let's think function over form- move the fixture to an appropriate location that doesn't interfere with the future cabinets (remember to keep door swing in mind for new location).
I'd go with canned lighting and use an LED bulb in it. Ya won't have to change it for years to come.
Why not just add a LED bulb to the current fixture? Kill two birds w/1 stone!
