My neighbor told me sometime ago he think I have skunks under my shed. OK. I know we have seen some them on the block, coming out of sewer, on lawns AT NIGHT, etc. And I do see a hole dug under one side of the structure.

I got a very quick glimpse of a brown animal scooting under my fence today. Just a few minutes ago... say at 6p ET. Clearly in daylight.

From all my reading skunks are nocturnal, and hate light. And they clearly have the white stripes.

What I saw was definitely brown, with a fury-ish tail. And moved like a bat out of hell under the fence and into/under some of the neighbors huge flowering shrubs.

I've seen in person and/or in photos: opossums, raccoons, woodchucks (groundhogs), badgers, beavers, even honey badgers. What I saw today actually looked nothing like any of those in photos. And it didn't seem to be a muskrat, mole or a vole. (and it clearly wasn't a rabbit or chipmunk)

Granted I got only the quickest glimpse, but I did see it's entire body, not a good look at the face...not enough to swear it is or isn't a specific animal.

Is there some other animal it COULD be...or it could indeed be a brown skunk with no white stripes?

Thanks.

There are skunks with white splotches.

Why did your neighbor think it was skunks?

Could it be a bobcat?

Might also be a weasel/ferret, they move very quickly, but their bodies are long and slender, and you didn't mention that.

We had ground hogs (woodchucks) under a garden shed if ours. They did no harm. Are these animals doing harm? If not, why not let them be?

yea, I'd say a woodchuck too. Fat brown furry blob with almost no legs but can move faster than a bat out of hell. yup-that'd be a woodchuck.
the biggest danger to home owners is, being a rodent, they're quite prolific..

We once had a skunk that was white with a black stripe out during the day. We thought there might be something wrong because we know skunks are nocturnal. We called the game warden and he said that skunks do indeed come out during the day-not all the time but you can find them out and about during daylight hours.

It really is hard to tell what you saw without a pic. I would guess a groundhog.

We had raccoons under our patio slab, and down the chimney.

The chimney was a mother and 3 kits. They left on their own after dark.

The one under the patio kept coming back, and had to be trapped.

Check around the foundation to the shed even maybe up to 10 ft away, wood chucks generally have a 2nd hole for escape.

Does not match your description but we have twice had a possum live under our shed. One had babies and we trapped the whole family and we moved them to a wildlife area (our dogs kept going after them).
