I don't know anything about either brand, but have been talking to a design build firm about redoing my kitchen.

I have designs in both I can live with. This particular designer is doing a hard sell on the Fieldstone. He showed me them first, made a big deal about the "inset doors" and is now refusing to give me a quote for the Yorktown when I said I just wanted to compare.

Any insights into why this might be happening? Its a little annoying and I might take my business elsewhere. I am feeling railroaded and I don't know why.

Wouldn't fieldstone cabinets be kind of heavy?

I'm assuming they mean the company Fieldstone Cabinetry, not an actual cabinet made from stone.

What is happening is your designer either doesn't want to deal with the other supplier so he won't give you a quote or is confident he has your business and is using that to force you into more expensive products. Hard to say what someone's ultimate motivation is though, try asking him?

I believe that Fieldstone is a higher quality cabinet the Yorktowne. Fieldstone cabinet interiors are wood while Yorktowne is a print which I believe is a laminate. Your designer talks about inset doors is because that is a sign of a high high quality cabinet. Only cabinets that are well made of high quality woods can have inset doors and drawers because they need to be well fit and not move or expand much. We have inset cabinets made by Greenfield. They are five years old and are as good as new after heavy use. They were worth the extra cost to me. Jay
