I got a 18 yr old bock water heater that keeps shutting down after the service tech performed maintenance on it. We have to go to the basement to reset it every 24 hours. I should say it started happening the day he performed his service. He came back once to install a new "cad cell eye" but didn't solve the problem. Now he says he needs money to install transformer, primary control and burner coupling.

I have a strong suspicion of foul play here because it looks too coincidental to me. Should I open a case with the CT consumers bureau or should I give him the benefit of doubt? He is a licensed private contractor who recently sold his company. Any suggestions?

I'd have a different company come look at it first.
