I am at a loss here. I am losing sleep over this. I wake up in cold sweats every other night. I haven't eaten in three days.

I just bought a townhouse (as covered in another very interesting thread ) and the kitchen is a long rectangle. The stove is on one side, and the sink on the opposite side. Where do the rest of you who cook put your cutting board? Stove side, or sink side? I am not sure which I would prefer. I know, I know, try it both ways. Wondering what others do. Thoughts?

Ya know cutting boards are moveable?

Stove. Cut it up, then shovel contents into pan or pot. Continue cooking. Move cutting board when you have a moment to do so.

Definitely stove. Items that are produced go into pans to cook them, not into the sink. The space adjacent to a sink is typically used for a drying rack, occasional dishes that have not yet been washed, and tends to get wet. Not a good location for a cutting board.

Well, cutting boards *are* moveable. That being said, if I'm preparing food by myself, I tend to work in the wedge of countertop between cooktop and sink, with the cooktop being on my left and the sink on my right. When I'm not using my cutting board(s), they live in a cabinet to the bottom right of the sink.

I have a double sink and clean as I go (no wet countertop stacked with dirty dishes, pans, and utensils), so it's what works most efficiently for me.

I have to assume that this is a joke. You put a cutting board wherever you plan on using it.
I have 3 and they stay in a bottom cabinet. I take them out when I need them.
