Where can I purchase a plastic part for an older Whirlpool stove? I am housesitting and accidentally melted off a plastic part on a stove that lights up when the burner is turned on. I know this is a pretty unusual question but I have gone in to panic mode. I have been housesitting here for years and think this could be the last time due to this disaster.
Is there a place I can order it from?

You will need the following Whirlpool information first:

Model Number and Serial Number

Any good appliance parts house can check part availability with the above information...

Good Luck. At least it's a major appliance manufacturer so the odds are in your favor

Sears.com and repairclinic.com are two places to check.

Google - Expert Appliance.
I have bought parts from them and have always received the correct part with fast shipping.
They seem to have parts for a lot of older stuff.
You will need the model and serial number.
I found parts from them that no one else had.

You are in a fairly good size city, so I would expect there to be at least one good size appliance repair parts store. Go there with the model numbers of the stove, and maybe the melted part, you will probably be able to leave the store with the part.

No such luck. I went to a parts place and they acted like they did not recognize it though they said they had been in the appliance business for over thirty years. I am having a hard time with the model number. The appliance is attatched to the stove top and I am not sure where to look I am afraid to remove a burner because of how the electric burners tend to not want to reattach well.

Number plates might be on the back of the control panel. Pull out the stove and look at the back.

But before you do that, open the oven door and look for the tag there. Or pull out the drawer and look there.
The tags should be in one of those three places.

I would probably try another appliance parts place too.

I found the model number, called around some, and now have given up. I will tell the owner his stove is broken and move on with my life. I feel bad but yes accidents happen.
