The sheets topic reminded me of something. What type of sheets do you use on your bed and how often do you change and wash your sheets? I use to use the cheep cotton polyster (sp?) blend sheets. Then one day I grabbed the wrong set of sheets off the shelf and ended up with a set of Sateen 100% cotton 350 thread count. I've never gone back since. Even cheep off brand sateen feels fantastic. I change the bedding once a week and rotate my mattress when changing the bedding. My mattress is not one for flipping.
For softness, nothing beats bamboo sheets. I used to use 1500-thread-count sheets and thought they felt great. But, once I tried bamboo, I threw away the rest of my sheets.
I used to change my sheets daily, as I like the feeling of freshly-washed sheets. However, since I started using bamboo sheets, I change them weekly. I have a foam mattress and dont turn it.
I can't have foam mattress. I developed an allergy to something in the memory foam matterial. We're looking to get a select comfort air mattress. Tried my parents select comfort and no allergy problem.
I've heard of other people being allergic to foam mattresses. One such person bought a special type of mattress enclosure that enveloped the foam mattress entirely and claimed it solved her problem.
Egyptian cotton does seem softer, but the sheets I've had don't last that well. I've heard so many good reviews of bamboo I'm going to try that next.
We also have a sleep number bed. It's great for two of us who need different levels of mattress firmness. My wife sets her side on 40 and I use 85 and we're both comfortable.
