Water spilled down floor air vent--problem? (AC, heat, smell, carpet)

My cat overturned his water bowl which was near the floor air vent in a room. Some water went down there--at most 1/2 a cup. Is this a problem? What should I do?
The water is probably caught in a low point in the ductwork somewhere. 1/2 cup is not too much, so you could probably dry it out by turning the fan on and running the AC or heat for a while.
The AC is on and will be on all night--should this dry it out? Are there any bad things that could come of this? I think it is probably a lot less than 1/2 a cup, as most of it got soaked up by the carpet.
If you are concerned, you can lift the vent off and stick a towel down in there to swab off the excess water, as far as you can safely go...... but don't let go and get it stuck in there, and be careful not to cut your hand on any sheet metal edges.
It will probably evaporate too...
I would worry more about why the cat is trying to ruin your life an induce stress (by worrying about spilled water), than the 1/2 cup that spilled.

Now if the cat took a pee in the duct - THAT is a problem.
someone poured the mop water down my vent thinking it would clean it it was a entire bucket how do I get it out? what do I do other than never let that person alone with my mop bucket lol
Not enough info. Could be you would disconnect the vent pipe in the basement and get the water out that way, could be you use a wet/dry shop vac, could be you call an HVAC company.
When I was in college, a friend of one of my roommates was over and he got really sick. He vomited down the floor vent and then said, "Don't worry, I hit the drain." Everybody left it at that. There was a funny smell the first time the heat kicked on.
There are so many other questions that go along with this- especially if you were DIY'ing; but you don't sound like the type- call an HVAC company.
