I am so sick of vacuuming lousy carpet, threads pull out and accumulate, it was brand new last year mid-range; I can't BELIEVE how cheaply its made,I heard most is made of recycled garbage.....in my last house in Boca it was the same problem, expensive wall-wall carpet from Lowes and the dam- thing fell apart after a year........I can't believe they can't invent something that lasts, seems like a money-making scam..

Is it because it was from Lowe's? I have only bought carpet from carpet stores, not big box home improvement stores and have never had a problem with the carpet.
There are different grades of what looks like the same carpeting. The mills contract different specifications for different customers. The "big box" folks may have lesser specs. When I redid a commercial building a few years back there were 3 local carpet suppliers. Each sold the same color, style, and manufacturer. The prices were markedly different. A good friend had the highest bid. So I went to him and asked what was the deal. He told me to go get a sample off the roll from the other two suppliers and come back. I did. Laying on the table there was no particular difference in appearance. Pick it up, examine the back, and there was a marked difference in yarns per inch, the quality and thickness of the backing, and on closer examination, even the twist in the fibers was different. You get what you pay for.
Fwiw this carpet was bought froma local carpet dealer, however IMO the standards here are not good; customer service and products stink where I currently live;what brand name do you recommend? I am looking to get good quality for high traffic area, and lasting as I will be placing the house on the market: what should I avoid? Thanks for any help
I'm trying to see this in a different angle. If you had problems in the last two places you've lived, I wonder if it could it be from something besides the quality of the carpet. Is it possible something sharp stuck to your vacuum's bristle roll, or maybe your dog's claws are catching and snagging the carpet while they're playing in the house?
No, the dogs are outside and the house I have now, the carpet in bedroom and hall is particularly bad:it comes up in filaments when I vacuum,I use a shop-vac so there is no bristle brush
Maybe somebody in the house wears golf cleats when you're not there?
