I've been struggling to find colors to paint my house exterior and finally found an inspiration photo of a home in New Orleans. I've matched the brown and orange trim but CANNOT find the blue used. I've bought tons of samples and also tried to have the color in the photo matched without success. It just looks like a simple baby blue but none of the colors I've used look right. Do any of you have any suggestions for a comparable color? TIA!

It looks like it is actually a blue-grey. Blues can be intense, so a mix of white, a little blue, and an even smaller amount of black can bring it into submission.

Yup, that's a gray. Take that picture to the paint store and I bet they can help you out.

Agree it’s gray...the house next door is blue.

Its not about matching the colors alone. The placement and relative amount of the OTHER colors will affect your perception of the "blue" quite a bit. A more contrasty accent color tends to make the main color look more intense than it really is. Also, the light while you are viewing the house. A shady location (or a north facing wall) will affect the blue just as a sunny one will. The scale of window glass, how much of the roof you see, and the design of the house itself will also affect it. Some reading that might be of interest.

BTW, I like your inspiration house!

I recently bought a new house. People kept asking me what color it was. Every time I looked at it the answer changed. Everything across the blue to grey spectrum. The trim appeared to be a pale rusty brown. When I needed to paint a shed and finally took some samples to a paint store for matching, the actual result was a shock. I have a hard time admitting I actually bought a green house with rose pink trim! But then, the stained glass accent windows cut by the original owner's glass designer wife finally made sense...you guessed it...pink curlicues on a green background. Not something I'd ever do myself.

We took a piece of Hardi Board to Home Depot and they matched the colour perfectly-

Don't know if they can match the paint from a picture but it might be worth a try!

Take the brown and orange chips with you and try them near the grays. You'll come closer having the other colors with you.

It looks a bit like Sherwin Williams Windy Blue and SW Habanero Chile.

To me, it looks similar to Behr's Boot Cut. I used that color in my living room, and it's a bit more of a blue-gray.
