part of it is, but it also is as far north as Westheimer. Most of it is outside the Beltway though.

Alief itself is actually a small area. Alief ISD does cover a lot of other neighborhoods all the way up to mission bend. Immediately west of 59 is Sharpstown, which is in houston ISD.
Its no biggie, just clearing it up. We came from Queens and newark nj and no kids so we have a different compass for 'danger'.
Goodluck

I don't know about "upscale", but there are a lot newer buildings, businesses, homes, etc. in that area of town. There's been a lot of growth in SW and west Houston (Sugar Land, Cinco Ranch?, Katy), so a lot of newer development. The same is true in the Woodlands area, and others.

As others have said though, there are also older homes mixed in, though maybe out of view from the freeways. It seems to me that much of SW Houston is still in decline, as it has since the 1980s, though there are some places of redevelopment. I know my old neighborhood is nothing like it was in the 1960s-70s. Big demographic changes, and lowering of home values, lowering of school grades/ratings, noticeable crime etc. if you know what I mean...

I think that's what they call people whos highway exits are closer to town and affect their commutes everyday. Commute from south katy is almost zero riff raff aka Alief's ramps onto WP tollway

I'm surprised that there are people who haven't heard of "riff raff", or have no idea what it is.

From what I've always picked up, "riff raff" are basically folks who either 1) cause trouble, 2) hang around an area and do nothing useful (do not work, do not help the neighborhood, litter, etc), or 3) have a rude/trashy attitude and/or no class. It can also be a combination of three. Basically, the people/attitude equivalent to material object "eyesores".
