Exxon is apparently going to be moving to an area in Spring (Klein ISD) west of I-45 near the Hardy Tollroad Intersection where they own a 1,400 acre tract. They already have legislative approval to create an Improvement District there where they have plans to develop 20 Office Buildings (3 million sq. ft), wellness center, labs as well as a town center, retail and housing.

Screw Exxon. We need First Solar to relocate here from Tempe.

If First Solar ever becomes a big player, Exxon or some other Energy Giant will buy it (if they don't already own it). The same family (Rockefeller) still owns controlling shares in nearly every major oil/energy company.

Not true.

If what you are saying is true, their holdings would have to be in the hundreds of billions of dollars. Considering how much they have given to philanthropic causes, that's highly doubtful. Looking at how much influence the Saudi's and Kuwaitis have in our oil industry, I would say it's more plausible for something like the Saudi's or the Kuwait Investment Fund to own American oil companies. Also, FYI, major holders of securities (institutional and individual) is public record, man. http://finance.yahoo.com/q/mh?s=fslr

AND, 3 of the 6 supermajors aren't even American. (Total, BP and Shell)

Let's not forget that other influential oil companies (Petronas, Saudi Aramco, & Citgo) are completely owned by their respective states.

They are MOVING their Fairfax, Va. people to a compound yet to be built in the NW. Nor has any land been purchased.

Exxon Downtown and in the EC are not slated to move. But from someone I know in XOM, the Dallas office may be moving. But getting those guys to come down is going to be a fight.

Yes, she means NW Houston. I would love it if they move the Fairfax folks here, I have a lot of friends there. I used to work in their NJ research mega-center. And yes, the folks in Dallas will kick and scream before moving here, I'd bet.

I had the most boring job ever at ExxonMobil, but man the pay and benefits sure were great

It would be hard to leave Fairfax for Houston. Leaving the weather and amazing school system is going to cause another group of unhappy transfers........sigh.

One of my good friend's husband is a bigwig in Exxon. They moved from outside of DC about 4 years ago. She still wants to go home.

I guess it depends on the person, and I suppose most people don't like that kind of change. Me, I LOVED it. Living in Fairfax is sooooo ridiculously expensive! And I don't miss that weather at all. But people who have been living in NOVA a long time have the same type of superiority complex that Manhattanites tend to have...for different reasons. I'm still trying to get my sister to move here, and they aren't totally opposed to it but they are heavily entrenched in Virginia politics and her husband is in the new governors cabinet so I'm guessing they'll be there at least another four years
