I'm not complaining about women's nails, but why the heck does Houston have so many damn nail salons?! Every new strip mall I see here in Katy has a nail salon; why?

I recall my mom, aunts and sisters having no problems painting their own nails. I guess it's too much work now. Is it just Katy, or has anyone noticed a nail salon (or donut shop) in every strip center lately?

Also, I do notice the fancy flowers, or designs on the nails when at the register usually... but the reaction I get is not "oh, how nice", instead, and I know this is wrong, I usually check out the woman from top to bottom. Strange? I agree, but it is like seeing a woman in stilettos, and checking out the entire package.

For what it's worth, the package is usually not something I am interested in. Ironically, I think painted nails (solid color) is very feminine on a woman, and have even gone so far as to compliment a few because I do notice nice manacured hands.

Katy does not need another nail salon, or donut shop... for anyone thinking they have a great idea of opening up a shop!

I HATE the cheesie hooochie momma decals women put on their toes these days. Coral Red or Pale Pink for me, and it better match!

Solid color only here. Beautique once a week for a mani/pedi......none of that fakie stuff either.

Nail salons, cell phone places and friggin mattress stores. That's all I ever seem to see.

My wife is thrilled to know of all the nail salons, I prefer her to keep herself up so it's a win win for me.

I have never been to a suburb that *doesn't* have a nail salon in every single strip mall that opens up. Seriously. Dallas, Phoenix, San Diego.....you can't swing a cat without hitting a nail place!

They always seem to be the first establishment that opens up when a new strip mall is built. Newest strip mall at Katy Mills - Nail salon first tenant. New strip mall on Mason at Fry - Nail salon is first tenant. On Fry at Katy-Gaston. I didn't realize women's nails were in such dire need.

Default Ha! Ironic...

My wife told me this morning she is taking my 6 year old daughter with her to get her nails done (my wife promised our daughter that for her birthday last month)! I busted out laughing and she though I was poking fun at her... I did not say anything, but just had her read my post here.

Add to that the abundance of banks and the lack of gas stations West of 99 that could've been a better use for those lots that are now bank branches. Plus the lack of a post office in South Katy (Cinco Ranch ACE is the only one in the area that doesn't have a post office inside) and a decent DPS DL station. What is wrong with the planning?

I think the nail salon population is out of hand in a tacky way too. And ya gotta love the oh so origional names of these salons.

Are most of them doing the "tool kit" per customer these days? I worry about germs on their tools. There was a news report (years ago) where they inspected the blue germ killer stuff in various Houston salons, & some salons were just adding blue dye to water! No kidding. Ewwwwwww!

I totally agree!

With all the crowds and growth in SW Katy it will be great to see another grocery store in this area. The HEB on Fry Rd. near Seven Meadows & Grand Lakes is a madhouse.

Also, like a previous poster mentioned.....we could use another post office and a list of other things. Just please no more nail salons.
