Hi all,
Does anyone know which store(s) carry a wide collection of BBQ Grills? I know that Home Depot and Lowe's have BBQ Grills. Just like to know if there are any other stores that carry a wider collection of BBQ Grills.

I used carcoal grill before and never had gas grill. I'm wondering if I should get one that has both gas and charcoal grill together.

For gas grill, isn't it bad for the fire to cook the food directly? Like the gas stove in kitchen, you don't cook the food directly over the fire.

Thanks for your help.

I'd look at Weber Grills online.

I need to see the actual product in person. I can read the info from the website but I still need to see and feel the product before buying it.

Default What part of town?

I know of a place on Highland Knolls off of Mason in Katy. 'Sorry I can't recall the name, but you can't miss it... headed West, it would be on your right about a block off of Mason.

I would suggest you get a real 305 stainless steel grill, not the cheap knock off stuff they sell at <Enter big box store here>. None of those grills, not even the name brand, will resist rust. True 305 stainless will cost a lot, but they will last. Good luck.

Does Weber and Char Boil have 305 stainless steel grill? If not, which brands uses the 305 stainless steel grill?
Any other good brands other than Weber and Char Boil?

Go with charcoal... get a Weber Performer and a Weber Smokey Mountain... that'll cover all of your grilling/smoking needs.

Any recommendation as to which brand or which type of charcoal to use? Are the charcoals in Kroger, Walmart, or Lowe's good to use?

I have looked up the Weber Performer on the internet. The reviews are very good. I need to take a look at the actual product to decide.

Just a nitpick, stores carry a "selection" of grills, not a "collection". If they were a collection, they probably wouldn't be for sell, or they'd be very expensive because you'd have to buy the whole set.

Most all the charcoals are similar. There is some Kingsford stuff that has lighter fluid already on it. Whatever you use, take your time and make sure the lighter fluid had totally burned off before starting to cook your food. Otherwise, your food will taste like starter fluid.

So use gas when you're in a hurry, and Charcoal when you're not in a hurry at all.

Gas grills used to use lava rocks to cook. The flame would heat up the rocks and then the rocks would radiate the heat more evenly to the food. Now they've gotten away from that and use steel heat plates. Or IR radiating panels. The IR stuff cooks the surface a little faster. It sears the meat surface.

Places like Home Depot and Lowes carry different grills so that they can avoid competing with each other on prices directly. You can't do a price match if the other store doesn't have the exact same model.

Charcoal, first decide if you want to use lump or briquettes. Briquettes are less fussy... regular Kingsford and their Competition Kingsford are both respected and can be found anywhere. For lump there's a lot more variance.... this site will give you the lowdown on every type/brand out there: The Lump Charcoal Database -- Naked Whiz Charcoal Ceramic Cooking

You can take a look at the Weber Performer at Home Depot or Ace Hardware. I bought mine on Amazon as it was cheaper.

And if you do buy a Weber, this site is a requirement: The Virtual Weber Bullet - For the Weber Smokey Mountain Cooker smoker enthusiast
