So I heard it rain all night and it sounded steady but not overwhelmingly heavy. Wow was I surprised at just how heavy it rained. I could tell that there had been significant water over the roads with all the residual remaining even late this afternoon. Retention ponds are to the top. To those recently relocated here, this sort of street flooding will probably help them to understand what we talk about when we say it floods anyplace - particularly roads.

The intersection of 99 and 90 in Sugar Land was completely flooded today. They closed down the roads and diverted traffic into my neighborhood, which caused quite the mess because once drivers were forced into a residential area, they couldn't seem to figure out how to get back to a highway.

I heard the water was quite high in the Sugar Land area. Traffic was terrible everywhere - had lunch at Churrasco's River Oaks and traffic on Shepherd and Kirby was rough today, but I doubt theirs was from the rain.

My son had hockey practice last night... when we come home I lift his equipment bag out of the car so he can wheel it in and air it out. Apparently he got distracted and didn't bring it in... perfect night to forget for the first time. Now I have a bag of $1000 worth of soaked hockey equipment I'm trying to get dryed before his game tomorrow.

The water was really high down 517 in the ditches. Guess we got a good shower while I was asleep.

Parts of the Eastwood area received 4 inches overnight. It's been about 3 weeks since the city had significant rain, so most people welcomed it.

Fondren and Hilcroft were rivers last night. I wish I knew all that rain was coming last night before I went out.
