I was so impressed with the out pouring of advice received from my previous post that I thought I'd throw this question out there as well.

All the utilities for my apartment are paid for except electricity. What is the best, as in most affordable and reliable, electricity company to go with in the Houston area?

All electric companies are reliable since the source is usually center point energy. The electric companies are glorified billing companies imo.

go to this website to help you shop for a electric provider

Brilliant Energy. They were the cheapest at the time I signed up about 8 months ago. I haven't had one issue with them.

Every time we talk about this we talk about companies that don't generate even 1 Kwh of power. Virtually all are brokers of one type or another. Shocking! (no pun intended).

You can't have issues, and you will always be happy. They buy & resell electricity. Centerpoint delivers it (and maintains the wires).

Unless your electricity BILLING company goes broke (a real but remote possibility), they are all the same.

What we should discuss is rates and deals. Not how happy we are, or whether you've had issues.
