I have heard this is not a very good school. Just wondering if anyone has direct info about it. I know nothing about it so anything would help.
Thanks,
Anabel

The main issue with Missouri City schools is that they get neglected by FBISD. Those with money in FBISD know this and request their children go to other schools (or just flat out lie and give a relative's address). Lake Olympia area itself is nice. I am pretty certain 5th Street, Stafford Run Apartments and some other less than desirable areas feed into Lake Olympia Middle. If I remember correctly, it does feed into Hightower high which is one of the most underrated schools in the whole area, much less FBISD. Hightower is an exception to the Mo. City rule. There's a lot of rezoning, so you might want to consult FBISD's website.

Thanks so much. I looked it up on schooldigger. They gave it one star. I have a friend whose child will go there in the fall. LO seems like a very nice neighborhood, so I am surprised the school has a bad reputation. Her child is not happy about going there.

Default Looking for info on Lake Olympia Middle School in Mo. City

Parts of Lake Olympia are zoned to Palmer ES, Lake Olympia MS, and Elkins HS. Based on 2011 TEA Palmer and Elkins are rated recognized, however Lake Olympia MS is unacceptable.

I got zoning information from this site.

Hope this helps.

I went to McAuliffe MS and then Willowridge so if LO is bad then I must be the product of a warzone and not prepared to earn a living but I think I turned out alright as my parents went to segregated schools and they turned out alright

IT'S THE PARENTS AND WHAT ARE THEY TEACHING THE KIDS IN THE HOME, IF THE KIDS COME OUT UNPREPARED YOUR ASKING THE SCHOOL TO PERFORM MIRACLES!!!

I know a teacher at LO and she said it's more the parents than the kids as to why LO got its reputation.

The parents at Clements HS, etc. have the ability to prepare their kids from jump in that system so by the time they get the HS, the kids are motivated academically. They're not teaching anything different

But if your kid is a decent to above average student, it's best to send them somewhere where they can prosper academically as opposed to sending them somewhere like a Clements where Asian kids are taking honors classes as an elective and doing nothing else...then, your 3.8 GPA etc. is hurt there while at Marshall, your top 5% or so and receiving all kinds of scholarship money with a high class rank

AYP=Adequate yearly progress and TEA results recently released for the state of Texas. FBISD starts on page 70:

http://ritter.tea.state.tx.us/ayp/20...ampfinal12.pdf

71% of the whole state of TX did not meet AYP.
