My work are relocating me to Houston for a 3 month secondment from the UK and they have offered me the choice of a serviced apartment in the Galleria or one in Midtown. The commute to my office is around the same from both so I was wondering which area people would recommend. I am a 27 woman so obviously security is a concern for me. Any information people have would be very much appreciated as I am struggling to decide!

single female? Galleria. No question. Especialy if you like to get out and run or walk for excercise, not bar trolling. You can easily visit Midtown or Washinton Ave within 10 minutes.

I agree with EasilyAmused, the police eat breakfast all around the Galleria every morning.

Galleria. Generally speaking, Galleria proper zip 77056 is nicer/safer than 77057, but both are better than midtown.

I'm going to say Midtown. It's safe and more things to do.

Thank you all for the responses. It's so hard to know where to pick and I'm so grateful for the advice. The apartments they are looking at are the Montecito. Do any of you know these and if yes, would you recommend them? A few girls in the office have said that the traffic around there is horrific during the morning commute, is that true. They are looking at city place apartments in midtown which look very new - they are on Mcgowen is that area ok?

I want to be able to experience 'real' Houston during my stay but at the same time I do want to be safe!
