Which skilled trade is better for fixing things around the house, doing side jobs for extra cash, and for self employment in the Houton area?

I would say electrician is better year round and probably has better hours. I think HVAC gets slammed in summer. I know I had to wait over 2 weeks to get mine serviced. Boo!

Both are in demand and pay well. So it's more what you are interested in doing.

neither is good for side jobs. if you get caught doing unlicensed work here, be prepared to pay. i just got an email last week from TDLR. now, if i catch you doing something illegal, i can report you. both TDLR and media have done recent stings.

if you are licensed and insured, hvac is the way to go.
