I will be moving into some apartments next week (2 br 1,000 sq feet) and am just looking to see what most people pay in that area for water and electricty. It will be off Eldridge in the 77077 area. Thanks in advance for your input!

It is kind of hard to judge an actual electricity total cost as it all depends on the apartment, how old/energy efficient it is, and how much the prior residents used electricity if you are using prior data. I know you could ask the power company about the usage for the prior year on a particular apartment to get an idea, but that is just an estimate. Main thing is to pick a cheap price per kwh. You can choose from any of the "providers" on www.powertochoose.com or www.mytruecost.com . I pick the lowest cost larger company, and am currently with Amigo Energy paying 8.4 cents per kwh for 12 months. Be sure to look at the total cost, especially if you use less than 1,000 kwh per month as the fees can make the rate higher. The my true cost site factors that into their calculations.

For water, usually apartments just split the whole bill amongst all of the residents, so you would have to get that info from the apartment management for the particular unit you are looking at.

Good luck!
