I've been with Geico for 20 years. My wife just "smashed" my brand new truck in a garage entrance, $4K worth of damage and my insurance with Geico went up by 40%. I am so DONE with them

What decent car insurance options do I have in Houston, anything but Geico? Ideas? Suggestions?

I like State Farm and been insured with them for 20 plus years. Though if you have accident or tickets, their price tend to be higher. They are cheap or among the cheapest if you have good credit history and excellent driving records.

we have progressive. that sucks for being with them for 20 years and they raised 40% for a simple accident.

Rendon Insurance, slashed my prices with a Safeco policy over my Allstate policy even with much more coverage.

Kemper has done a great job for us the past few years - even with a couple of no-fault accidents.

Unfortunately, most of us should shop-around regularly. Even with internet shopping, it is a hassle. Who knows what goes into the calculations, and you just need to find the best fit for your risk factors by getting quotes. Example: Your current carrier can charge extra for an accident for five years, yet a new one will only look back three years. Don't assume loyalty is worth anything... We just went with Amica, who had a much better auto/HO combination than The Hartford - - who raised our HO deductible, yet raised rates as well. After many years with GEICO and no claims, they totally screwed us on auto rates when our daughter started to drive several years ago.
