"The brain is a battlefield, says neuroscientist David Eagleman. You might think you’re making single-minded decisions, but you’re really not. “Instead, you are made up of multiple drives, all of whom are trying to be in control,” he says. Despite being a bit disconcerting—Am I not who I think I am? What are these voices in my head?—the “team of rivals” brain model might, Eagleman believes, pave the way toward the end of drug addiction in the United States, if he can figure out how to teach people to harness those myriad drives."

I saw the first episode and thought it was fairly dumbed down. We switched away from it after a the first half.

So Pixar's Inside Out had it right?

Instead of Lewis Black, I have Louis C. K. - more mellow.

Thanks for posting. This looks interesting. At least it's better than reality TV.

It is an attempt to educate neophytes so he will attempt to use more common analogies and language.

Perhaps you can find reasons in "The Brain" why you double posted a critique that referenced "Dumbed down"

Accidentally posted twice because it told me to wait 60 seconds between posts.

Jack, watch the first episode here:

Episodes | The Brain with David Eagleman

As to "dumbing down", yes, he is going to talk to laymen and a general audience differently than he would colleagues - just like Neil Degrasse Tyson does. It makes it more available to the general populace. Tyson has made people interested in a subject most didn't give any thought. Eagleman is doing the same.

Watched episode 1 late last night and it was fascinating, did not get the feeling that the program was talking down to me at all. Interesting how everything we perceive is in the past by the time we figure out what it is and what it means. There is so much more to reality than meets the human neurosensory perception don't ya think?...
