*If you have a problem or opinion regarding pit bulls please keep it to yourself! I am looking for help not to be badgered by your opinion on the matter.*

My boyfriend & I will be relocating to Houston (for his job). We have a pit & pit mix. Both are very friendly (one is a certified pet therapy dog). We are having a hard time finding a place that does not have "breed restrictions". Does anyone have a pit or a pit mix & currently rents in the Houston area (we are willing to go outside of the city to Pearland, Clear Lake, etc.. if need be. Thank you for your assistance!

You may have to rent a house. What is your budget?

Most likely because of the increase in the liability insurance premium,an apartment property or homeowner would have to carry for that breed, it's going to be hard to find a rental.

This right here. Insurance companies have gotten stricter throughout the years on aggressive breeds. Most won't insure at all, even on a house. Add to that the individual HOA restrictions on a condo or townhome (sometimes this goes for houses, also) - and apartment management restrictions - and it eliminates everything.

Our budget within city limits would be around $1400 anything outside w/a commute (considering gas/time/wear & tear on vechiles would be a bit less $1,000-1,200)

Yep, we're in a SFH neighborhood and pitbulls are specifically mentioned in our HOA as prohibited.

Find a house that's not deed restricted.

Are you willing to pay a huge pet deposit ($2500 per dog because of breed and is non-refundable) and then pay for the liability policy ($1M per dog - $2M total)?

Can you pass a criminal background check, drug screen, and credit check?

No matter how great your dog is or fabulous pits may be; there are so many bad owners that contribute to the issues with this breed so most nice apartments, townhomes and deed restricted neighborhoods are beginning to ban them as bully breeds. Your best bet will be more rural area with no deed restrictions or an older, not so current, smaller, so-so apt complex.
