My family will be relocating to Houston and we are trying to figure out a few things... namely, where to live. The job is where I-610 and the South Freeway/TX-288 intersect. We have a small, but growing family. We don't speak Spanish more than to find the bathroom. Where would be the best place to live without an exceptionally long commute? We generally prefer more space, but judging from the densitypopulation of the area, we understand this may be hard to come by.

Sound like Pearland would be just right you y'all. Affordable homes, decent schools and the commute should be fine.

I'm sure others will chime in soon.

Yes Pearland , and Manvel in northern Brazoria County are the obvious choices. Perhaps if you gave us a budget for your home that would help people be more specific...

P.S. most people do speak English in the Houston area, Spanish is not a requirement..

P.S. 2 The Op has also posted in the Minneapolis forum that they will be relocating there as well. It is a scientific fact that you cannot be in two locations simultaneously. What gives?

For the spies out there :-) A few possibilities depending on where the job takes me. Didn't want to go into tons of detail on a random forum, but wanted to know what my options were and plan accordingly. You know, the old Boy Scout, "be prepared" motto and all that. Hopefully that satisfies your curiosity, and in the future I will make sure to make different accounts :-)

As for the budget. Modest. We'd prefer to spend around 200k give or take for a house. I don't really know what the housing market is like there however. Cost of living, etc.

Yep, it sounds like Pearland is for you.

Pearland, TX Homes For Sale

No need for a separate account just use the word "may" instead of "will" be relocating.
