I just moved from California and planning to purchase a house in the north west Houston area. Are there any first time home buyer programs available?
My annual salary is around 90k and my wife is self employed we're looking for a $250k to $300k house. This will be my first home purchase but my wife did purchase a home in Texas prior to our marriage.

Any tips welcomed, thx.

what is a first time home buyer program? Some kind of handout to help you buy a house? You are in the upper-middle class level of income.... I think the Fed has helped you enough with 3% mortgage rates available.

Me and my husband we are just like you first time home buyers and we are looking for the house in the same price range.
I suggest you to drive around the neighborhoods (you like) at nights, do not rely only to the reviews.

First time home buyer programs in Texas - yes.
First time home buyer programs in Texas for your salary and home price range - no.

You will qualify for some tax deductions as a first time home buyer but that's about it.

The OP wouldn't qualify for that program using their income guidelines.

I agree...you are a bit harsh. I think the OP is just doing his due diligence to understand the process and asking others for help is never wrong in my book. Apparently, you have something against people who want to be prepared. Typically, people who do their research and are prepared are the least likely to accept a "handout". Plus he asked for programs, as in education, not for a handout.

Naca.com

NACA has a first time home buyer program. The maximum home price can't exceed ~ $236K for a single family home, and there is no cap on income. NACA members can purchase a home at a low interest rate, and with no down payment.
