I lived fifteen years in Montrose and never had a single car break-in or crime happen to me. Purely anecdotal I admit. Maybe some drug addicts back in the 80's or 90's but hardly a gathering place for them now.

We live in the area and we like it. Check out the schools and see if you feel comfortable with either Montessori education or dual language and make sure you are not zoned to gregory lincoln elementary. Feel free to PM me with questions.

Sit at the Mcdonalds on Westheimer near the intersection and you see a lot of the 80s and 90s past come thru. There's still a lot of little crime like car break ins around Montrose. What do you expect when there's bums all over though?

They really seem to be congregated all within a block or so of Westheimer@Montrose. If you got 3-4 blocks in almost any direction from there, the numbers of homeless or vagrants or punk kids up to no good seem to go down tremendously.

I doubt your car will be broken into if you don't leave anything out that people want. Most people who get their car broken into leave all sorts of stuff hanging out on the seats like its the 40's.

My neighbor told me his car was broken into and when I inquired he left his laptop on the passenger seat with the door unlocked, someone opened the door, took the computer and shut the door

I've never had issues like that given my car is parked in the garage.

Oh...all these small crimes is nothing compared to what is going on in Katy. Originally I thought this suburb is safer, but after third shooting near my house during last month I doubt that.
