Hi,

We are relocating from Cleveland,Ohio to Houston Texas. My husband's office would be in Houston downtown(Allen Parkway). We will be moving with 2 kids . We are looking for good/safe apartment communities ,with some Indian crowd and good elementary schools. Convenience (or Proximity) for daily commute to downtown (Allen Parkway) would also be one aspect. Can you pl.suggest good apartments communities for renting?

Thanks.

If you're looking for 2 BR, as I would assume, you will likely have to up your budget a bit to be in a nice and convenient location.

The complexes known for having a high Indian population are in the Energy Corridor, along Eldridge Parkway or nearby, but that location is not really convenient for the work commute. There is a METRO commute bus, the 298, from the Addicks Park &Ride that crosses Allen Parkway (headed to and from the Texas Medical Center) and might stop close by enough to the job location, but check with METRO to make sure. The Energy Corridor complexes are nevertheless quite nice and the neighborhood is really good, and as I mentioned a large Indian population.

You might check older apartments in the area just west of the Uptown District - west of Chimney Rock, east of Voss, north of Westheimer and south of Woodway. Convenient for driving to work but can't promise a large Indian population.

Not certain of the prices at the moment, but I lived in the Houston Heights area for a few years up until 2014. I always thought it was a nice area for both singles & families. Like a little town within a city. Plenty of diversity in general. I imagine in that area it wouldn't be too difficult to find others in the Indian or any other community if one was looking. I was off of Heights Blvd between 20th and 10th. Was a pretty safe area for that part of town. Inside of the loop. Quick access to I-45, I-10 and 290. Would think that was a good proximity for your commutes. I worked in the Galleria for a couple years and it was rather manageable timewise. Still plenty of traffic to contend with, but you're close, so... Might be worth looking into. Good Luck to You!! Hope everything works out!
