Howdy y'all Houstoners... I'm just settling into my new apartment just south of the bayou park, near montrose and only 2 miles from downtown.

Thanks for your help with all the information... couldn't have done it without you! Houston is a behemoth of a city, I could see that on a VERY high overpass over 610 near the Galleria. Huuuuugge!!!

Welcome to Houston! Be sure to take advantage of this early-spring-like weather we're having and get out and enjoy the city while you still can!

Yeah, once it hits 85, there's no looking back until the end of October.

Honestly, now through Sunday early morning will be a good time to sit in; the storms are supposed to be pretty strong this weekend. You could probably tell because the sun hasn't come out once today, in the Galleria area anyway. But after that, we'll have some really nice, San Diego-ish weather from Sunday through Wed! Seems we are indeed having an early spring this year... Usually mid-Feb is still "cold"

Thanks everyone! Houstoners are a very friendly bunch, from what I've seen. I've talked to more people in grocery and furniture stores this week than I ever had back home... and people even have conversations in elevators! I met up with my cousin (who lives here) for dinner, and the place we were at was quite lively and spirited. Today, I met my neighbors and talked with them for a while.

When driving, people actually let you change lanes or merge in front of them! They even make room for people who are trying to merge onto the freeways... never seen that back home. (however, during rush hour, all bets are off!)

I'm feeling an overall good vibe with this city... just gotta meet more people and find things to do around here. Join a gym, a volleyball league or co-ed sports, etc...

Speaking of traffic I noticed a lot of people use turn signals, too ( a pet peeve not to, I suppose).
Anyway, good to see that your move to Houston went well.

A pet peeve NOT to use a turn signal?
Sometimes I think that's the only thing that half-way wakes up the bozo on his cellphone behind me, so they they don't slam into the back of me.
