Check with your insurance company--most cover a chip without a deductible. They will tell you who to call or they will call them for you. Safelite will come to your house or business to fix it in a few minutes.

*don't wait too long--the heat (or bumps on the road) will make it get bigger exponentially!

We've used Safelite twice for windshields. Both times they came out the same day we called.

Safelite will handle it.

Do yourself a favor and ask them for the insurance cash price (like you will submit it to your insurance) and then don't submit it. Your insurance rates will go up so be careful with that.

So do i pay them the insurance cash price? and then tell them i will submit it to insurance?

A coworker recommended Ace Chip n crack windshield repair. they charge $59 + $10 for any additional chips. This is their non-insurance quote.

In that case I would use Ace Chip since Safelite is usually $75.. But yes, you would ask to pay the insurance price and they will give you some paperwork to send to your insurance.

Safelight is really great for this! I had a chip and they "repaired it." And then it spread all across in 3 different rivers of cracks! I took it back to them and they said sometimes that happens and I need to buy a new windshield.

I pointed at the giant banner on their building that said, "We fix broken windshields!" I said, "It doesn't say, 'Hey, We'll give it a try!!'" Obviously my fix did not work. Finally the supervisor gave me half off a new windshield so I thought that was pretty fair. They did it quick and easy. My only regret is that I didn't get the same tinting along the top of my windshield like I had in my original one. But I'll definitely go back to them.

Give Clint's Chip's & Crack's repair a try. He did a good job on my crack that was over 12" long about a week or so ago. I only payed him $30. He is located at Fondren and Westheimer.

Most car wash places will have a guy onsite asking to fix window chips.
