Hello All,
What would you recommend for a family with kids visiting Houston for the first time? Kids ages high school teenagers and elementary and preschool ages. Staying for three nights in winter vacation (2023), returning before the new year.

I've heard of the Houston Zoo, Space Center and Downtown in general but like I mentioned first time visting and would love recommendations from the fine folks here!

The family will be travelling in a minivan. Any recommendations for stop overs or fun things to see/observe/experience while en-route from Dallas to Houston?

Thank you!

For the young kids the Children’s Museum is very popular. For the older kids the Museum of Natural Science is one of the most popular in the country. The Zoo is nearby.

I recommend a trip to Galveston, Moody Gardens, The Strand, and you could tack on Kemah Boardwalk, Space Center Houston, and the San Jacinto Monument.

That is at least two full days right there.

Thank you for your suggestions. They all look great and woudl love to visit them. Assuming the family will be staying in the zip code 77088, are there other places close by that may be worth visiting or any experiences outdoors/indoors worth having for kids?

Shipley on Ella Blvd. iconic place unlike any other Shipley. Still maintains the original look. Hot and fresh glazed all day

77088 (Acres Homes/Inwood) is a bit of a food desert unfortunately. But if you go a bit south into Garden Oaks/Oak Forest, Govindas off 34th and Gatlin's BBQ off Ella are two interesting restaurants worth a try.

Nothing specifically in 77088 but you are close enough to I45 to venture North to The Woodlands or maybe Old Town Spring? Nothing specific for kids that I can think of.
