My dh went down to Houston this week to interview with the GE on Jacintoport Blvd. His family lives in the NW part of Houston, near Jersey Village. He wanted us to live in that area, maybe near 290 and Barker Cypress. But, now he's concerned. He said the commute to his family from work was an hour and if we live past that he's looking at 75-90 minutes each way. He didn't mind the hour commute, but is worried about a longer one.
How are the schools closer to that part of town?
What subdivisions should I look at that would be family oriented and around $300-350,000 for a 5 bedroom?
Or should we stick with the area we were looking at? And if so, does anyone know a "quicker" way to get from Jacintoport to Barker Cypress?
Thanks!

That is a long ride from Jersey Village to Jacintoport...near Sheldon. Have you considered the Humble area...Kingwood. There are many nice schools and subdivisions there. The commute would be much easier...

If he's headed all the way out to Jacintoport, he should probably consider something like Kingwood, Fall Creek or Summerwood.

He'd go crazy making that drive every day. In traffic it might be an hour and a half. I would probably look at Deer Park or Clear Lake for nice neighborhoods and a friendlier commute.
