OK, here is a bit of difference. I evacuated inland to the parent's place which ended up in the west eyewall continuously for a period of about 3-4 hours. It was pretty rough and the neighborhood got torn up to a fare-the-well with extensive tree and roof damage. My house, on the other hand, went through the eye-wall into the eye then through the eyewall again. It had alot shorter duration in the eyewall. Consequently, the damage in my neighborhood was not nearly so extensive. BTW, the eyewall did not extend as far as Sugarland or the western parts of Houston. The western edges of the eyewall were limited pretty much to east of 45 or just west of 45. I am just happy this was only a category 2 storm, I would not have liked the situation had it been even stronger.

Wow so that means I went through northern eye wall, eye, and the southern eyewall.

I remember the eye coming over my home during Alicia. Basically the rain and wind lightened up for about 20 minutes and then the back end came on. I never got the eye during Ike.
