Hi!
We are currently looking at some new homes in 77083 zip code and noticed that they fall into the Alief school district. So I am looking for info about the school district the good and the bad. Are there other school districts nearby that someone can recommend if not this one? I have a new job in the area and would love to avoid a long commute. Thank you for any information you have!

We have kids in high school middle school and elementary.

I graduated from an Alief high school in 2004 and would not recommend it. Maybe 10+ years ago I would have but not these days. I'd maybe look into nearby Fort Bend County schools.

This kind of behavior is pretty common at Alief schools these days

What's your price range? Under 100k? That will really determine where you can live. Where about is your work?

What a great place to develop the leaders of tomorrow. More like future prisoners of America training center.

Scary video. Where are the teachers? Are they too afraid to be out in the hallways monitoring the sweet children?

Sweet children!! I'd be scared to be out there too. It's a sad video to see.

I remember when I was in high school. They didn't allow cell phones and camcorders. Teachers would patrol the halls in between classes to keep activity like this from happening.

My good friend taught for a school in Alief (5th grade). There was a kid who literally got up and slapped a girl in the face during a lesson. He followed all the policies and procedures (parent conferences, etc) to the point where some kids in his homeroom should have been sent to Alternative School. Alief has been skirting their own policies and procedures for quite a few years now to make it seem as though it's not as bad as it is. If they did follow procedure, they would probably have to build another alternative school. The principals clearly should have done something about his classroom as it had an autistic child, a child on heavy medication for behavior and many other issues, not to mention three or four kids that should have been removed from the class. They did not, and his contract was not renewed. This happens in Alief often. Very good teachers are thrown under the bus. If you want a good idea of what Alief schools are like, you should walk by one of the intermediate or middle schools every day for one week during dismissal. You will see a brawl at least once or twice a week with Alief ISD police involvement. I suggest you look elsewhere for schools.

I'm actually thankful for Alief ISD. Without that trash, we would never truly appreciate good schools.

Thank you Alief, thank you. Thank you all for remaining and consistently remaining low-life scum. You helped make us realize what quality truly means.

Because cell phones are needed in urgent communication, school districts nowadays generally allow cell phones, but they must be turned off during class

I subbed in Alief for a year and would not recommend sending your children to any of the schools in the district.
