Hi all,

We're moving to Houston in early Jan and want to live very close to Downtown so my husband has a short commute. My kiddos are 18 months and almost 3 so I'm very interested in good public elementary schools. We told our realtor that we it was a top criteria for us and gave him the examples of Poe, Harvard, Travis, Mark Twain, Roberts, West U.

Our realtor just sent me over some houses that I loved but one is zoned to Woodrow Wilson Montessori and the other is zoned to Wharton Dual Language Academy. I've been looking them up online. Woodrow Wilson is a 5 on great schools. Reading the parent reviews it sounds like they had some rough patches but maybe it's getting better? I love the Montessori method and was planning on both of the boys going to a Montessori preschool PT so I think it would be awesome to continue that through elementary.

I also like the idea of the dual language program. Some of the schools where we live now have that program and the parents that I'm friends with love it. Wharton has a great schools rating of 8, but I haven't heard much about it outside of that.

Does anybody have any experience with either of these schools?

Thanks so much!

It's just word of mouth, but I haven't heard great things about Wharton. Wilson is supposed to be good, and continuing to get better. I've heard mixed reviews about Poe, but good things about the other schools your realtor mentioned.
