I was recently up at the Merritt's Creek Shopping Center and noticed that the vacant land (next to the upper smaller strip of stores - the one w/ Starbucks) had a new sign on it that read something to the effect that the property was going to be developed and was already in the pre-leasing phase. By reading the sign, I got the impression that development of that small piece of land was going to be taking place shortly. Any information about what may be going to be built there?

Also, with PetCo moving up next to Target, what is going to occupy that old space on the lower shopping level?

That lot has had a development sign in it for some time but they might have just switched them out. It's a small lot which limits the development opportunities. The bottom doesn't see as much traffic so the empty space may sit a while before filling back up but I hope not.

I believe they have changed out the signs; it appears that something more may be in the works for the locations. I presume they would build another "strip" style of stores on that small lot and if they angle the building perpendicular to the existing strip, they could probably squeeze 3 stores/spaces in there. I agree, the bottom lot sees much less traffic and they need to get something down on that level to anchor that would really draw more traffic. Would have been nice to see Starbucks move down there (would have been much larger space for them to expand and have more seating and study areas) which would have drawn more traffic to that level.
