Anyone know of a good place to get a delicious and pretty cake in Decatur or Hartselle? Our son is in the Army and is coming in from Germany for 2 whole weeks! I want to have a sheet cake with the Army insignia and the american flag - something like that. We are throwing a coming home party, and I really want something special and professional looking.

Thanks!

I'm a big fan of All-Wright Bakery. Check with them at 224 Moulton St East in Decatur. 256-353-2602.

I've found that Publix does a really nice job.

The Publix in Decatur? We moved here not too long ago. Is there only one Publix in Decatur?

Several friends have told me they like Publix's bakery. Yes, just 1 Publix in Decatur, on the Beltline across from Office Depot. Heck, we're lucky to have a Publix, even 1!

All-Wright...Except for a couple of cookies (which were a disappointment) can't say I've had anything from them in their current incarnation. I craved their date nut bars and fruit cocktail bars 29 years ago when I was pregnant. They haven't made those in years...the current owners probably don't have the recipes.

Go local!!! Even if they aren't always the best, they are your neighbors and the most responsive to what you want.

Thanks Southlander - we are so happy he will be here, even if only for two weeks - then he deploys to Kuwait.

Deesonic - yes I would prefer to go local whenever possible!
