Although we are zoned for Providence, they don't have a special education preschool, so my 3.5. year old will be going to another school in the system. So far Morris and AAA have be mentioned as possibilities. I don't know if I will be given the choice, but if I am which would you pick?

For special ed preschool, you should visit each of the programs and make your decision based on that assessment. If they are similar, I'd choose whichever is most convenient in terms of location.

The way the preschool programs are run and the way the elementary schools are run (in terms of the responses you are likely to get from the general population) are two different things. And a lot can happen in 2 years that may make the Kindergarten choice a completely different decision.

Thanks zenjenn. I figured the program was run quite differently which is why I didnt' want to just go off of something like the great schools score. I am really hoping someone has some personal experiences. I would assume that the teacher running the program probably have much more to do with how good it is vs the school it was in. He is suppose to start a couple of days after schools starts, so I dont' know if I will have the opportunity to visit each place.

I will say that I have known families that have attended the district preschool at both Weatherly (or was it Whitesburg?) and at Hampton Cove - in all cases developmentally-typical kids (the programs are about half & half) and except for the little snafu with the HCES principal lying to get her underage niece into the program, I haven't heard any complaints - only good things.

I think Academy for Academics and Arts. My son attended 7th and 8th grade there. It is a close knit group. All students are included in activities. I would be happy to give you more details. You may contact me personally.

edited to add: I agree that you should visit each school in person.
