Paradise donuts has had a for sale sign up for a few weeks and closed it's doors. This is the 2nd time since opening that it has done this, the first time I heard it was due to owner's poor health. Not sure if it ever sold or if they just reopened it.

Anyone know why this time? Did McDonalds already pull too much business from them?

I never liked their products, so I can assume that I wasn't the only one and business just didnt flourish.

I believe the original owners sold the business after it closed the first time. My son goes to high school with one of the children of the current owners.

My guess would be that McDonalds being right next door had a huge impact on their breakfast and lunch traffic. I don't remember the timing of the reopening exactly (thinking August '12), but maybe a new 12 month lease is due soon and the owners have already seen enough disruption in their business to know that another twelve months isn't going to be worthwhile.

The donuts were never good. Reopening was a terrible idea.

They won't be missed.

Well that's to bad, I ate there a couple times when it was the original owners and it was not bad, but not the best I had, but I try to support local businesses. I would have went more but since I am in Hsv, it's a trek for me, I had to already be out on that side of town.

Same here...DD is a terrible excuse for a donut shop and I'm glad to see they haven't really hurt the Palace's business.

My favorite donut is from whatever the one is near the Raceway at Bob Wade...yeast chocolate glazed with a ton of roasted peanuts on it. Amazing.

Been there a few times. Tastes like they use a flavored oil to fry their donuts. Not bad in a pinch but I still like donut palace better.

Kay May

or something, yeah I have enjoyed them quite a bit over the years, usually pretty good, but I haven't had business out that way in over a year now.
