Afternoon,

Curious if anyone had seen any statistics on the Hampton Cove Elementary and Middle school on the student body composition from the previous year vs. most this recent post desegregation order school year. Saw two major articles in the paper here on schools in last few days...but no mention of Hampton cove schools in them And sites like great schools show student data from way back in 2012.

Also interested in thoughts from parents with kids in the HC elementary school in general, as my kids will start there in August. From class size...to leadership...to teachers leaving, etc.

Thanks!

Hampton Cove schools currently the best in the district, but they are beginning to see some discipline issues. They have high test scores and a super strong pta.

There are no discipline issues of concern at Hampton Cove Elementary or Middle School. When you have kids, you are going to have issues no matter what school setting you choose. Hampton Cove is an outstanding school!

I can hear the OP thinking "yeah, outstanding in Alabama"
This is not South Alabama. We have families move here and the parents find out their kids are behind at our schools.
And our schools are probably more "diverse" than yours.

I do get tired of everybody thinking that all Alabama schools are horrible.

I think that's going to vary depending on where you are coming from. I moved here from NOVA (Springfield) the summer after 3rd grade, and was so ahead I didn't learn anything for 2 years. And this was at Jones Valley. But I went to a VERY good school in NOVA, with a top notch gifted and talented program. So YMMV.
