not crazy about the name, but glad to see something happening with this mall. wish century plaza here in Birmingham would get a similar treatment... these dead malls are such an eyesore.

on a sentimental note, it is sad seeing Madison Square close. definitely a big part of my childhood growing up.

Yes, it is sad to see the malls of our youth/childhood fall by the wayside. I didn't grow up around Huntsville, but 2 of the malls I have fond, vivid memories of from childhood in TN are toast. One is a pitifully empty mall that is still hanging on with JCP, Bath & Body Works, Claire's, Big Lots, Dirt Cheap, etc. It used to have a great Castner Knott (which became Dillards) and the rest of the mall was full of cool stores, and of course an arcade .

The other mall I have fond memories of from childhood is Hickory Hollow in Antioch/Nashville. Biggest mall in TN at the time, it had everything! So sad what happened to that entire area.

^ I actually lived in Nashville in 1999 and Hickory Hollow was a huge draw. Went there all the time. I've heard (and your post seems to confirm) that the Antioch area has changed quite a bit in 15 years.

Funny to hear the name Castner Knott too... Madison Square had one of those. I think it might have been the only Alabama location, as very few people in Birmingham have heard of it.
